Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the purpose of the Obituarweb application?

Obituaryweb allows users to create and preserve memorials, ensuring that memories of loved ones live on digitally.

Who can create, publish or manage an obituary or memorial?

Any registered user can create/publish an obituary or memorial page for a loved one, while management privileges are limited to the creator/publisher or approved administrators.

What the difference between an obituary and a memorial?

An obituary is a digital presence for a deceased person before and during getting laid to rest. After burial/cremation date, an obituary becomes a memorial. Users can create and publish memorials directly even for loved ones lost many years ago. Key differences include: obituary has a death of announcenent, but memorial does not have; obituary has a Condolence book for signing, a memorial has an Anniversary book that followers can send anniversary message during only the respecitve anniversary month, each year.

I am on the page of my deceased person, but I am not able to write my condolence message.

The most likely reason is because you are not following the deceased person. Click on the Follow button to have the full experience.

Why you do you moderate condolence and tribute messages of the deceased person?

We cherish and respect the dead and therefore do our level best to ensure that only positive or neutral comments remain. The dead can't defend themselves, therefore we come in to protect their dignity. We believe if you have nothing good or neutral to write about a lost soul, then keep it to yourself, but not broadcast it at obituaryweb.

What are some of the reasons why a condolence message can be blocked?

When they lack respect to the dead, use vulgar language and/or the message is written in a non-official language. A blocked message can rewrite appropriately by the user and a community moderate will unblock it.
